Eclipse at The Globe

World Premiere JULY 16TH 1998

A brand new live entertainment venue accommodating an audience of over one thousand people is set to enhance Blackpool Pleasure Beach's reputation as the North West's foremost centre for live entertainment. THE GLOBE will also be the venue for the world premiere of a stunning new show, ECLIPSE, which opened on July 16 1998.

Representing an investment of over £1 million pounds by Blackpool Pleasure Beach, The Globe promises to be a venue like no other. The performance area features a rock face with cascading waterfalls, jumping water plumes and fountains, backed by a multi-coloured, fibre- optic star cloth. A battery of smoke machines and gas jets create a swathe of fire around the perimeter of the translucent elliptical stage. Real water rain bars enclose the stage area, creating a shimmering curtain of rain between performers and audience at the touch of a button.

The superlative visual effects are matched by state of the art lighting 8 sound systems, including two UK firsts: Starlight Mark V moving lights and fully programmable surround sound.

Based on the elements of fire, water and air, the inaugural show, Eclipse, has also demanded the installation of six motorised lift and travel flying mechanisms. Technicians at Blackpool Pleasure Beach have spent many long hours undertaking specialist training on the equipment, which enables performers to soar and swoop majestically over the heads of the audience in a breathtaking spectacle of balletic artistry, combined with turn of the millennium technology.

The driving force behind the new theatre is Stageworks World-wide Productions president, Amanda Thompson, whose energy and vision have culminated in a venue that puts Blackpool on the world map, with a new production will delight and amaze even the most sophisticated of audiences.

Technical Specification Of Laser Equipment U.K manufacturer Laser Innovations supplied the laser system installed in the globe. The system uses the very latest in technology to provide bright and vivid colours. A Spectra Physics Chroma 10 whitelight laser provides the laser beam, Fibre optic cables are used to deliver the laser beam to all of the remote locations. A unique product (the NatScan) developed by Laser Innovations gives a continuous 360 degrees coverage of laser effects. Natscans are used in many applications world-wide and was recently used for the Wet Wet Wet concert in summer '97. Other stunning effects using a 360 degree centrepiece (Laser Galactica) rotating moonflower gratings, 180 degree spread of beams are all driven by the Latest windows 95 desk "VOYAGER".
